"Individual Assessments"
Coming into play every so often, is the need to examine individual strengths & weaknesses.
Psychometrics (inventories and tests used by psychologists, counselors and personal mentors), can be used to measure strengths and weaknesses in key areas of aptitude, interests and personality variables. All of these can affect performance in business activities. The "instruments" used should "fit" the position-related needs.
For example, measuring "asssertiveness" may not be important to someone who works on their own and interacts with very few people, but how about that person in sales? Or, how about that prospective manager who is going to have to direct employees?
Important! Any "test" results are only as good as the interpreter's ability to read them. Education and experience are critical. Otherwise, you should stick to the astrology column in the newspaper. There are many "inuendos" that exist in the area of psychometrics.
For example: Most people are unaware that "personality tests", even the best of them, are really only reliable for 12 to 18 months! I broke that news to a corporate team of HR professionals and "business psychologists" and their jaws dropped.
