Projects themselves can be challenging. And for many companies, to make them even more challenging, is that at the pace of today's business activity, you may not have the time, energy, or maybe the expertise, to appropriately focus on all of your company's internal and external communication needs.
"Communication" touches every aspect of every business. From a company's logo, to the way management is groomed to communicate with their personnel, to verbiage that makes up the content of your employee handbook or your company's webpages, the manner in which you communicate is critical to your success. The "styling" of your communication plays a critical role in establishing you as a "brand".

A design! A logo!
An "ID"!
Famous Logos: A year or so ago, I started a lecture on "the psychology of learning", by rapidly flashing well known logos up on a big screen in front of the class, asking students to identify each one as quickly as they could. What a lesson in marketing and corporate identification that turned out to be!
For many companies, an identification of "who they are and what they stand for" is an important statement. So, in many cases, "design" is an important element of communication. And it can begin with a logo.
Logos and Rationale: Below is a link to "The Story Behind the Logo", which gives a brief account of circumstances surrounding the rationale of the logos' design.
Design & Content: More extreme examples can be seen when "content" is embedded in a logo.
As was the case for a retail-client, (image to the left), who was developing a "Back-To-School" campaign, which is something that many retailers put a special emphasis on. How this impacted their season can be found on the page that describes "The story behind the Logo". (Link is above). It's an interesting account on the tought processes that go into logo-design.
The message: Sometimes signage emphasizes a company's specialty. Other times, companies need visuals to make a statement.
Like the one seen here, where a company was broadcasting the upcoming launch of a new software system. They kept clients and vendor-users engaged by running a series of "count down" pages on their network and sent alerts showing a rocket ship "blasting off" as T minus zero approaches!
Visuals for events, presentations, shows and conventions
Clients attending conferences, giving presentations, etc.; will often need visuals for any number of reasons; from emphasizing a particular message, to creating entertaining trivia shows. I have created signage for conventions, events, presentations, lectures, golf tournaments, and banquets.

Promoting golf tournaments
One effective way to achieve high attendance & high participation for almost any event is through "cascade marketing". I was taught this method of marketing by 2 very accomplished marketing executives.

Plastic card seasonal marketing piece
Marketing is a crucial business function and marketers & sales professionals are always looking for ways to stay in touch with existing, or develop new clients. So, a seasonal schedule of a favorite sports team is a terrific little hand-out to give someone. Plus, you've got different opportunities per season - be it basketball, baseball, football, etc.
Tip: Plastic impresses more than paper, in that people tend to hold onto plastic pieces more so than paper ones. Also: The thicker the gauge, the better!

Designing "work-horse" pieces
Just a term I've come accustom to using when referring to forms, appointment pads, prescription forms (Rx pads), etc. What is important to note here, is that the design needs to fit within the function of the "instrument" (be it a pad, form, or work-sheet).
The examples shown are two frequently used forms for appointments. One specifically for Open MRImage's single location, the other for Multi-Specialty HealthCare which has approximately 25 locations.
