"My first professional role was sort of like a triple-decker-sandwhich". [P. Brady]

How he got started...

Paulette Guion, Advisory Board Member*

By "triple decker sandwich", he is describing his professional "start up" role(s) where he took on 3 unique positions early on in his career. (Simultaneously)

First, being the youngest faculty member/senior lecturer on record (then 23 yrs. old) in Towson University's Psychology Dept., where his assignment was to instruct students and take an in-depth look at the Educational Psychology & Learning curriculum for State Teacher Certification.

The second was an assignment to the Baltimore Co. Police Department's kick-off at a counselling effort geared towards youth offenders (now called JOINS-Juvenile Offenders in Need of Supervision).

And his 3rd was being the very 1st male counselor for (then) an all-female student body at The College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Though he admits the 3rd was a fluke... "They thought 'Pat' Brady was Patricia not Patrick... so they were sorta stuck with me."

Well, being "stuck" must have worked out well for the College. After his year commitment was up, the Director of the Counseling Department asked Patrick to stay on to screen and groom some male candidates for the following year's internship.

That triple-decker-role earned Brady 2 consecutive Executive Citations from the Baltimore County Executive's Department and qualified him for a Post Graduate Certificate in the professional counseling field.

Instead of "hanging out his shingle", he put on a 3 piece suit and headed for the (then new) World Trade Center and Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
