Speaking in front of groups

Speaking in front of groups is one of the highest ranked "need areas" reported by management. It has been in the top 5 concern areas for more than 25 years!

I have designed a program that teaches or "coaches" individuals, not only on how to give more confident presentations, but it also gives them tools by-which they can continue to improve long after the program is over.

About speaking in front of groups: For some reason I don't like to refer to this as "public speaking", because I believe that term translates into "being on a stage" in front of rows upon rows of people.

What this exercise does, is make you better at communicating in front of a group of people. That might include heading up a team of 3 or 4 people, or heading up a departmental meeting of 50 to 75.

What makes this exercise unique is this:

  • It is designed to involve apprx. 7 individuals (the ideal number for a workgroup is 7).
  • It teaches participants how to use a mental-track for gaining "message-control";
  • And how to use "power wheels", tools to use to measure improvement.
  • It also transforms each member of the group into being a "feedback-giver" and supporter;
  • And teaches the group how to develop each other going forward!

I initially meet with the group and take them through exercises on how to use the program and from there, it becomes their "communication lab"!

Speaking in front of groups is a process that involves delivering a series of short presentations and instructing participants on how to use the "power wheels" to evaluate each other. As each individual becomes more polished, the evaluations show improvement and the wheel pattern "tightens-up". [As demonstrated above.]
